BALLYHEIGUE NOTES – 8th March 2016

SCOIL CHRIOST RI PA would like to extend its sincere gratitude to all for
the support it received in its recent bingo evening. It was a huge success
and we would hope everybody enjoyed it. We would like to congratulate our
Jackpot winner Martina Madden. Finally a word of thanks to all for the
generous spot prizes we received from our sponsors; to the bingo players,
parents, kids and all of the people who attended on the evening we are
truly grateful

DAFFODIL DAY BLOOMS IN BALLYHEIGUE: Please support our coffee morning for
Daffodil Day at Kerryhead/Ballyheigue Family Resource Centre on Friday 11th
March from 9am-1pm. Complimentary tea, coffee and home baked treats
available. We will be selling a range of Daffodil Day merchandise and our
raffle has fantastic spot prizes. Please support this wonderful cause.

The AGM of Kerryhead/Ballyheigue Family Resource Centre will take
place on Tuesday
15th March 2016 at 7pm.

BADMINTON: Another County Championship title for the Ballyheigue club last
weekend when Colum Carroll and Colm Griffin won the Division 4 Men’s
doubles title in Killarney.

Our division-4 mixed team and division-5 men’s teams are both doing well in
their Co. Leagues.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY: Will be celebrated on Tuesday 8th March
worldwide. Look up the internet for events in Kerry.

RETREAT CENTRE, ARDFERT: ‘Year of Mercy’ – A course on faith by Fr. Sean
Sheehy on Wednesday 9th March at 7.00pm; and

‘Padre Pio’ by Michael Clifford – Monday 14th March at 7.00pm. Further

ELMA WALSH (mother of Donal) will speak at all masses next weekend 12th/13th
March on cancer and suicide.

TROCÁIRE: In our annual effort to reach out to the poorest of the poor
Trocáire boxes will be distributed to all the homes during the coming week.
Thanks to the staff and students of our schools for their generosity in
undertaking this which goes immediately to the areas of greatest need.

DEATH: The death took place during the week of Elizabeth ‘Lil’ Gentleman
(neé O’Mahony), of Glendahalan West, Ballyheigue and late of Banna East,
Ardfert. Removal was on Saturday evening 5th March from Hartnett’s Funeral
Home to St. Mary’s Church, Ballyheigue. Requiem Mass at 11.00am on Sunday 6
th March followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Sympathy is extended to
her husband Paddy, sons, daughters, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, other
relatives and friends.

GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday’s GAA Lotto:
8-12-17-28. The Jackpot of €2,850 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will
be €2,900. The two €50 winners were: Aisling Cronin, Caherulla and Sean
O’Sullivan, Glenderry. The €25 winner was Marian Hussey, Marian Park,

KERRY HURLERS: The Kerry Senior Hurlers were beaten by Wexford in the
N.H.L. at Austin Stack’s Park on Sunday. Final score Kerry 0-8 and Wexford
2-25. Philip Lucid was a member of the team.

FIXTURE: North Kerry Senior hurling League Ballyheigue v Ballyduff at John
Joe O’Sullivan Park this Saturday at 3.00pm.

GAA MEMBERSHIP: Child U-10 years Fee €20. Youths from 11 to 18 years of
age Fee €30. One adult and children Fee €80. Two adults and children Fee
€100. Senior members Fee €50. OAPs Fee €20. For an additional €50 on any
of the above membership fees it will entitle you to two Lotto tickets
weekly for the year. Closing date for Membership of the Club is the
31st March

COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 29th ~February
in the Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club Lotto: 2-5-6-19. Jackpot was
not won. The €50 winner was Ben Quille, C/o Mike. The €25 winners were:
