*Ballyheigue Notes 28/05/19*


The death has occurred of Hannah Dineen, nee Flahive, Glenderry,
Ballyheigue. Reposed on Thursday evening the 23rd May at Hartnetts Funeral
Home. Requiem mass took place on Friday 24th May at 11.00am in St. Mary’s
Church, Ballyheigue and burial afterwards to Holy Family Cemetery,

Sadly missed by her loving family, Husband Patrick, Daughter Mary, Sons
John, Patrick (deceased), Kevin, Tom, Mike. Son in Law Sean, Daughters in
law, Bernadette, Anne Marie, Mary Ellen and Gillian. Grandchildren, Ian,
Mark, Ray, Stacy, Grace, Hannah, Kate, Shauna, Vivienne, Melanie and Niamh.

*Coursing Lotto:* The following numbers were drawn on Monday 20th May in
the Ballyheigue and District Coursing Lotto The Jackpot was not
won. The €50 winner Joe O Suillvan c/o John B. The €25 winners were Mary
Griffin c/o Costcutter, Holly Harty c/o O Regans and Kitty Brennan. Next
week’s Jackpot €11900.

*GAA Senior:* The Senior hurlers were defeated by Kilmoyley in the North
Kerry League on Friday evening. Score Ballyheigue 1-10 to Kilmoyley 3-16.
*U14:* Congratulations and well done to our U14 hurlers who won Div 3
County League at Kilmoyley on Saturday Evening. Final Score Ballyheigue
3-11 to Abbeydorney 3-5.

*Fixtures: *Co Senior Hurling Div 2 League Ballyheigue B v Abbeydorney B in
Abbeydorney on Wednesday evening 7.15pm. Co Senior Hurling League Div 1
Ballyheigue v Abbeydorney on Friday evening at John Joe O Suillvan Park
7.15pm. Co Senior Hurling League Div 2 Ballyheigue B v Dr Crokes on
Saturday evening at John Joe O Suillvan Park 7.15pm.

*Kerry Hurlers:* A great victory for Kerry Senior Hurlers who defeated
Westmeath in Joe McDonagh Cup at Mullingar on Saturday. Philip Lucid was a
member of the Panel. Score Kerry 1-21 Westmeath 2-16.

*Puc Fada:* The County Puc Fada finals (Senior and U16) takes place at
Kerryhead Course Ballyheigue on June Bank Holiday Monday with 1pm start
time. For the First time Kerry GAA have the honour of hosting the Munster
Puc Fada which will be held at Kerryhead Course Ballyheigue on Saturday 15th

*GAA Lotto:* The following numbers were drawn at last Sundays GAA Lotto The Two €50 winners were Jim Cantillon Causeway and Jimmy
Browne White Sands. The Jackpot of €11,050 was not won. The €25 winner was
Kitty Cooley Church Road. Next week’s Jackpot is €11,150.

*Ballyheigue Community Games*

A fantastic weekend at the All Ireland Finals in UL over the weekend.
Congratulations to Aaron Horgan and his team on winning Gold in the Cross
Country 1200m. A brilliant achievement, Well done Aaron. Also receiving
Gold medals were our super Draughts team of Dara Kearney, Dara Donnelly,
Adam Dineen, Oisin o Regan, David o Sullivan and Denis Lynch once again
bringing home 1st place for the County. Massive congratulations from
Ballyheigue Community Games and thanks to everyone involved with Aaron and
the Draughts team, your support is much appreciated.

*Songs of Irish Life:*

In the Ballroom of the White Sands Hotel on Friday 31 May @ 9.15 Cllr John
Lucid, All-Ireland Accordion Champion, will officially launch Mr Jim
Breen’s newly recorded CD, called Songs of Irish Life. The CD also features
contributions from many North Kerry musicians. A beautiful production under
the direction of the Ballyheigue Heritage Group with the assistance of
Kerry County Council. Everyone is invited to this celebratory event.

*St. Brendan’s A.C.*

Congratulations to Ballyheigue club athlete Aaron Horgan who was a scoring
member of the U13 Kerry Cross Country Team who won Gold Medals for 1200m at
the National Community Games Final in UL last weekend and to Aaron who was
presented with his 100th junior parkrun certificate at Tralee junior

The Primary School Sports Area Final was held on Wednesday, 22nd May and
there were a number of Ballyheigue athletes who will now go forward to the
County Final which will take place on Wednesday, 12th June in An Ríocht
Track, Castleisland. Details will be forwarded to both Bouleenshere and
Glenderry Schools. A record number of over 300 children competed in the
event with Glenderry N.S. coming in second place. Full details of all
qualifiers is on the club’s Facebook and blog pages.

Training continues Monday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. for u12 to masters in An
Fearann Sportsfield for throws and jumps. All juveniles will train on
Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., also in An Fearann Sportsfield,
while the masters will train from 7 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening and all
are to meet in the carpark at Ardfert Graveyard. Please see the club’s
