*Songs of Life*

The Heritage Group wishes to thank all who attended the Launch of Jim
Breen’s CD, to make the occasion a very happy and successful event. A host
of singers and musicians entertained the capacity crowd to celebrate the
renewed interest in traditional Sean-Nós Singing.

The Crotta 1968 Victory Song, composed by the late Micheál Harrington, was
sung by Sonny Egan as Jim played in goals on that historic day. The Hannah
Mary Waltz, a unique tune played over 100 years ago by Hannah Mary Flahive,
with connections to Kerryhead, and which is preserved for posterity on the
CD was played. The story of how descriptive song The Comet from Caherciveen
came to be written was unfolded when a letter from the composer, Paddy
Moriarty, Cloghane, Castlegregory, was read to the audience. Gabhaimid
buíochas ó chroí le gach duine a bhí i láthair.
