*Ballyheigue Notes 25th June 2019*

*Death*

The death has occurred of Dr. Maurice O’Halloran, Adare and Sandhill Road,
Ballyheigue, Co. Kerry on June 15th, beloved husband of Bernie and dear
father of Seán, Cáit and Michael. Sadly, missed by his loving family,
sister Mary, brothers Eamon, Joseph and Michéal, uncles Brendan and Mikey,
nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends. Reposed at the Gleasure
Funeral Home, Tralee on Monday 17th June. Requiem Mass on Tuesday 18th June
at St. Mary’s Church, Ballyheigue. Interment afterwards in St. Mary’s
Cemetery, Ballyheigue.

*Coursing Lotto:* The Following numbers were drawn on Monday 17th June in
Ballyheigue and District Coursing Lotto 14.15.17.29. The Jackpot was not
won. The €50 winner was Claire James c/o John B. The €25 winners were Leo
Lawlor c/o White Sands, Patrick Barrett c/o Christina and Marie Dee c/o
White Sands. Next Week’s Jackpot is €12,100

*GAA U12:* The U12 Hurlers defeated Rathmore in Div 2 County Hurling League
on Score Ballyheigue 3-3 Rathmore 0-3.

*Senior*: The Senior hurlers were defeated by St Brendans in County League
Div 1 on Sunday Score Ballyheigue 0-15 to St Brendans 1-20.

*Fixtures:* U12 County Div 2 Hurling League St Brendans v Ballyheigue in
Ardfert on Friday 28th June. U14 North Kerry Hurling League Ballyheigue v
Lixnaw in Lixnaw on Tuesday 2nd July 6.30pm. Senior County Hurling League
Div 1 Ballyheigue v Crotta in John Joe O Suillvan Park Sunday 2pm. County
Minor Hurling Div 1 League Ballyheigue v Causeway/ Kilmoyley at John Joe O
Suillvan Park on Monday 1st July 7pm.

*GAA Lotto*: The Following numbers were drawn at last Sundays GAA Lotto
11.17.23.27. The Jackpot of €11,300 was not won. Next Weeks Jackpot will be
€11,350. The two €50 winners were Anselem Boyle Marian Park and Joe Leen
c/o Costcutter and €25 winner was Sean O Halloran Heirhill.

Good Luck to all involved. Ballyheigue are represented by Conor O’Sullivan,
Graham Slattery, David O’Mahony, Nathan Guerin, Colin Walsh and Séamie
Foran. John Healy is part of Team Management.

*Community Games 2019*. Congratulations to Matthew o Sullivan who received
2 Bronze medals at the County Athletics final in An Riocht last weekend.
Matthew came 3rd in both Long Puck and 200m. Jennifer Harty also received
2nd place Silver medal in the Long Puck. Well done to Jennifer. Congratulations
also to Ellen Lucey who received 4th place Pewter in 200m u10. A massive
well done to all the children who participated in the games. We at
Ballyheigue Community games are very proud of all the effort and hard work
you put into training. Thanks to all the parents who travelled and to our
secretary Fiona O Suillvan for all the hard work she puts into these
events.

*J.J. O Suillvan Memorial Lecture:* Mr Justin Horgan the Ardfert Historian
will deliver this year’s illustrated talk on German Air Crashes in Ireland
during World War II in Ballroom of White Sands Hotel on Tuesday 2nd July
8.00pm.

*Celebration of Light*: In aid of Recovery Haven Cancer Support House.
Monday 1st July at Ballyheigue Beach. Candles are on sale in local shops
and will be available to buy on the night. Please support this event by
purchasing a candle 1 for e3 or 2 for e5. Recovery Haven house is a totally
voluntary organisation and relies on donations to run the House. Recovery
Haven support many families throughout the year. We Look forward to seeing
you all at this special event to celebrate the lives of our family members
and friends who have passed away.

*St. Brendan’s A.C.*

Congratulations to club athlete Matthew O Sullivan (representing
Ballyheigue Community Games) who won a Bronze Medal in the u12 200m and a
Bronze Medal in the u12 Long Puck at the Kerry Community Games Final last
weekend. Well done also to Katie Butler, Ben O Connor, Dylan McEvoy, Kevin
Horgan and Eric O Sullivan (all from Ballyheigue CG) who also competed in
various events. Training continues on Monday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. for
masters in An Fearann Sportsfield for throws and jumps while training for
non-competitive juveniles has now ceased for the summer break and will
recommence in September. Masters long run training is currently being
organised for members who will be running in upcoming half
marathons/marathons. Please contact Ursula is you would like to be kept

The 10th Anniversary Banna 10k Run, which also incorporates a 5k and
children’s 2k fun run will be held on Sunday, 4th August at 9:30 a.m.
