Ballyheigue Notes


The death has occurred of James O Connor Tiershanahan. Reposing at Harnetts
Funeral Home on Friday evening. Requiem Mass on Saturday 6th April and
burial afterwards in the Holy Family Cemetery Ballyheigue. May He Rest in
Peace. Sadly missed by his loving family. His parents Michael and Mary,
brothers Pat and Mike Joe and Sister Eleanor, Nephew Patrick, Aunts,
relatives, friends, and neighbours.

*Sympathy*: Sympathy is extended to Margaret Moriarty, Post Office,
Ballyheigue and Neilie Brouder Sandhill Road Ballyheigue on the death of
their Father Raymond Brouder, Gortnadroma, Ballyhahill, Co. Limerick, May
He Rest in Peace.

*Coursing Lotto:*

The following numbers were drawn on Monday 1st April in Ballyheigue and
District Coursing Lotto The Jackpot was not won €50 winner was
N. Harrington c/o White Sands. The €25 winners were Donal Guerin c/o White

*GAA *U16: The U16 Hurlers were defeated by St Brendans in County League on
Thursday in Ardfert. Scor Ballyheigue 2-11 to St Brendans 4-14. The U12
hurlers were defeated by Tralee Parnells on Friday Scor Ballyheigue 3-4 to
Tralee Parnell’s 4-11. The Intermediate hurlers lost Crotta O Neills in
North Kerry Intermediate League on Friday Evening. Scor Ballyheigue 2-6 to
Crotta 1-14. U14 team were defeated on Saturday by South Kerry 2-9
Ballyheigue 1-4.

*GAA Lotto.* The following numbers were drawn at Last Sundays GAA Lotto The Jackpot €10750 was not won. Next week Jackpot will €10800.

*Good Friday Walk*

The Annual Good Friday Walk for Kerry Hospice will take on Friday 19th April

*Ballyheigue Athletic FC:* Juvenile Academy U9’s now underway in

*Community Games 2019:* Congratulations to Aaron Horgan who received 2nd
place in the U13 Cross Country last weekend. Aaron along with his brother
Kevin represented Ballyheigue at the races. Well done boys. Our U16 Boys
Futsol received 3rd place in the Finals. Good luck to Molly Casey who
participates in Model Making this weekend. A massive Thank you to
Ballyheigue Community Centre for acknowledging some of our Community Games
participants at their Award ceremony last weekend. Up to 12 of our
children were recognised for their hard work and dedication to their
different events. A lovely afternoon was had. It was wonderful to see what
great talent we have. Congratulations to Aaron Harris on his Superhero
award from all in Community Games

*Ballyheigue Community Centre:* Bingo returning on Thursday 18th April @

*Ballyheigue Community Centre:* For a magical evening of Irish music, song
and dance come and join us on Saturday April 20th where Celtic Steps. The
Show featuring The O’Neill Sisters will take to the Community Centre stage.
Tickets can be purchased through our Facebook event page, website and from
the Community Centre. Cost: €25 for Adults and €15 for Under 16’s. Doors
open at 7:15pm. Show 8:00pm.

*CAUSEWAY CAMOGIE NEWS:* Camogie training continues every Thursday for the
U12 girls & every Wednesday & Friday for the U14 girls in the sportsfield
Causeway. All sessions are from 6-7pm and new players from all parishes are
always very welcome to come along and give it a go. Cost €2. Helmet &
hurley will be provided if needed

*St. Brendan’s A.C*

Congratulations to club athlete Aaron Horgan who was awarded a Ballyheigue
Youth Award for his outstanding success in Cross Country Running last
Saturday. Aaron won silver in the u13 Community Games 1200m Sunday morning
in Beaufort and will now represent Kerry and Ballyheigue in the National
Community Games Cross Country final in UL next month. Aaron was a member of
the U14 Relay Team who won Gold at the Gneeveguilla Open Sports on Sunday.
Team members with Aaron were Eoin and Darragh O Flaherty and Eoin Malik.
Success also for Ben O Connor who won bronze in the u10 600m in a very
strong field of athletes, while Kevin Horgan was on the U12 Relay Team who
won silver. Other team members were Taylor Fahy, Eoin Malik and Darragh O
Flaherty (pictured). The club would like to thank Gneeveguilla A.C. for a
very enjoyable open sports.

Training continues at the following days and times (all in An Fearann
unless otherwise stated):

Monday u12 to u18 – 7 to 8 p.m. – Shot, Long and High Jumps.

Tuesday – Fit 4 Life – 8 to 9 p.m. – Ardfert Community Centre

Wednesday – 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. – u8 to u18 – outdoor track and field

Thursday – Adults run in Tralee

Upcoming event – The Club are holding a 4-mile fun run and U16’s 2k fun run
on Easter Sunday. Proceeds will be given to the Maurice Collins Vintage
Run Committee for their chosen charities. Congratulations to the club
athletes who are being presented with awards at this year’s Kerry Athletic
