GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Sundays GAA Lotto
1-14-26-28. The Jackpot of €7,550 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will
be €7,600. The two €50 winners were Sean O’Halloran, Heirhill and Joan
Lucid, Church Road. Ballyheigue The €25 winner was Diarmuid Behan,
KERRY HURLERS: Congratulations to the Kerry Senior Hurlers who had a great
victory over Cork in the Munster League on Sunday at Austin Stack’s Park
Final score Kerry 1-23 and Cork 1-13. Philip Lucid was a member of the
GAA A.G.M. The AGM of Ballyheigue GAA Club was held in the club room on
Sunday evening. The following Officers were elected for 2018. President:

JUVENILE MEDAL PRESENTATION: The Ballyheigue GAA Juvenile Medal
presentation will be held at the White Sands Hotel from 3pm to 5 pm on
Sunday 28th January. All welcome.
BALLYHEIGUE COMMUNITY CENTRE:
TEXT ALERT: Application forms available from the Community Centre office.
RESPITE DAYCARE for Dependant/Alzheimer’s Service Users. This service is
available at the Community Centre every Friday from 9.30am – 2.30pm. This
provides a welcome respite opportunity for carers, and provides a positive
experience for the person receiving care. We have a care assistant and
Nurse on duty at all times. Please contact to Centre on 066 7133837 for
IRISH DANCING: Registration Tuesday January 23rd at 7:15pm. Classes will
begin on Tuesday January 30th at 7:15pm.
BADMINTON: Fantastic win for our division 4 team in the County Final of the
men’s league last week in the Sports Complex Tralee. Even though the final
score was 4 – 1, most of the games were very close but sheer determination
and will to win got us over the line in all the tight games.
The team was – Colum Carroll [Capt.], John McDonnell, Kevin O’ Mahony, Colm
Griffin, and Noel Carroll. John followed this up with a great win in the
Division 4 mixed final in the Listowel Tournament last Sunday.
Everything is now in place for our own tournament which is on this Sunday 21
st in the Community Centre starting at 11.45.
Our club nights continue every Monday and Thursday nights from 8.30pm.

DEATH: The death has taken place of Noreen Kearney (née O’Hanlon),
Ballinclemesig, Ballyheigue and formerly of Drumnacurra, Causeway.
Predeceased by her husband John, sisters Annie Harrington, Chrissie
O’Halloran, Kathleen McGonigle and brothers John, Timmy and Danny. Deeply
regretted by her loving daughters: Joan O’Carroll (Kilmoyley), Kathleen
Ryan, Berrings, Cork), Julia Browne (Ennis), Jenny Tarrant (Listowel), Mary
Monahan (Kilmoyley), Celeste Shorten (Droleague, Cork), Martina Reidy
(Ballyheigue), sons: John, Chris (London), Tim and Dan, sister-in-law Joan
O’Hanlon, sons-in-law: Bert, Bill, John, Gerard, Ray, Tim, Terence,
daughters-in-law: Mary, Carmel and Ann. Sadly missed by her 35
grand-children, 4 great-grand-children, nephews, nieces, relatives,
neighbours and friends. Reposing at Casey’s Funeral Home, Causeway on
Tuesday 9th January, followed by removal to St. John’s Church, Causeway.
Requiem Mass on Wednesday 10th January and burial afterwards in St. John’s
Cemetery. Rest in Peace.
DEATH: The death has taken place of Mikey Hussey of Akeragh, Ballyheigue,
dearest son of the late Michael and Mary and adored brother of Fergus,
Cliona and Sinead. Sadly missed by his loving family, his nephews, niece,
uncles and aunts, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, girlfriend Helen,
cousins, relatives, collegues, neighbours and many friends. Reposing at
home in Akeragh on Wednesday 10th January. Requiem Mass on Thursday in our
Lady and St. Brendan’s Church, Tralee. Private cremation will follow.
Rest in Peace.
DEATH: The death has occurred of T. J. Cronin, Caherulla, Ballyheigue. His
remains arrived at St. Mary’s Church, Ballyheigue on Saturday 13th January
for Requiem Mass and burial afterwards in the Holy Family Cemetery,
Ballyheigue. Rest in Peace. (Predeceased by his father Myles and brother
Aidan) Sadly missed by his loving family mother Noreen, sister Breda,
brothers Myles, Brendan and Paudie, aunt Mary, sisters-in-law,
brother-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
COMMUNITY GAMES 2018: Thanks to everyone who supported our Table Quiz over
the Christmas season. It was a great night. Thanks to Pat Flahive and Breda
Cronin for all your help. Draughts training will commence in Bouleenshere
School on Mondays 7-8pm for anybody interested. Anyone interested in Art,
Handwriting or Model Making contact Fiona asap on 085-785 8229. We extend
our deepest sympathy to our Club Treasurer Ann Kearney her husband Dan and
all the Kearney family on the recent Passing of Dan’s mother Mrs Noreen
Kearney. Our sympathy also to Breda Cronin and family on the recent passing
of her brother TJ RIP.

KERRY BRANCH OF SAMARITANS: Thank you for your continued support of our
Christmas Eve and Christmas day church collections for our branch which is
greatly appreciated, €693.53 was collected. We wish all those in
Ballyheigue Parish a very Happy and Prosperous New Year.
FOCUS ON EUCHARIST: The children and parents of First Communion are invited
to the Vigil Mass on Saturday next 20th January at 8.00pm. This is a very
important part of children’s preparation for First Communion involving
parents and Parish to complement the work of the teachers.
