BALLYHEIGUE NOTES – 16th February 2016

BALLYHEIGUE COMMUNITY CENTRE: Offers many services….fantastic Hall, Meals
on Wheels, Gym, Laundry, Day Centre, and Meeting Rooms. We have a
dedicated hardworking staff but we are always looking for volunteers. As a
centre that serves the community we are especially keen to be inclusive and
welcoming of all corners of the surrounding areas. We are appealing for
anybody with a bit of spare time to offer to join our team and build on a
”community” atmosphere.

COMMUNITY GAMES: Deepest sympathy to Ann Kearney and her family on the
recent Death of her father William Carroll.

Well done to our U-13 Indoor Soccer team who played in Duagh recently. U-10
Indoor Soccer will take place next Sunday. Best of luck to all the
boys. U-12 and U-13 soccer training will continue Monday at 6-7pm, €2 per
child. Thanks to Mark and Jack who are doing a great job with all the
training. Thanks to all who contributed to our church gate collection last
weekend. Anybody interested in Art, Model Making, Swimming and Hand Writing

PARENTS ASSOCIATION: Scoil Chriost Ri, Drumnaucurra, Causeway are holding a
bingo evening in the Forge Bar Causeway on Sunday Feb 28th at 4pm. A great
evening of fun to be had. Jackpot must go on the evening. Please support.

GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday’s GAA Lotto:
6-13-17-22. The Jackpot of €2,700 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will be
€2,750. The two €50 winners were: Kitty O’Halloran, Ballinclemessig and
Sony Casey, Ballylongane. The €25 winner was Billy Horgan, Buncurrig.

GAA SOCIAL: The Ballyheigue GAA Social will take place on Saturday 27th
February in the White Sands Hotel, dinner at 8.00pm. Medals will be
presented to the Intermediate and Co. League Division-3 winning hurling
teams. Tickets available from Club officers.

FUNDRAISING DRAW: The Ballyheigue GAA Club is holding a fundraising draw
for a load of logs or a ton of coal. Tickets are €3 each or two for €5.
Please support.

HURLING ALL-STARS: Congratulations to Philip Lucid who was picked at Wing-
Forward, on the Kerry County Championship All-stars team. The function was
held on Saturday 7th February at the Abbey Tavern, Ardfert.

KERRY HURLERS: Well done to the Kerry Senior Hurlers who had a famous
victory over Laoise at Portlaoise on Sunday in the Division 1-B
National Hurling League. Final score Kerry 1-24 and Laoise 2-14. The
Ballyheigue club was represented on the team by Philip Lucid.

COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 8th February in
the Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club Lotto: 19-21-26-30. Jackpot was
not won. The €50 winner was Damien Nealon, C/o Christina. The €25 winners
were: Denis Healy/Joe Goose, C/o Macs. Jennifer McKenna, C/o John B., and
Black, C/o Macs. Next week’s Jackpot €3,350.

DEATH: The death took place during the week of William Carroll, Tiduff,
Ballyheigue. Removal was on Saturday evening 13th February from Hartnett’s
Funeral Home to St. Mary’s Church. Requiem Mass on Sunday and followed
by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ballyheigue. Sympathy is extended to his
wife, sons, daughters, grandchildren, relatives and friends.

PRAYER FOR PEACE GROUP: You are invited to give 5 minutes of your time each
Tuesday before the Angelus at 12.00 noon to unite in prayer for world peace
and an end to hatred and injustice. Please remember others will be praying
with you.
