BALLYHEIGUE NOTES 15th MAY 2018
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION Next Saturday at 11.00am Mass our children will
receive their First Holy Communion. They have been preparing very well for
this during the year and many thanks to their teachers Mrs Susan Crean and
Mr Terence Dineen, and to their parents towards making this a great
spiritual occasion and a day to remember.
*BALLYHEIGUE COMMUNITY CENTRE:*
*Meals On Wheels:* We can deliver any amount you require straight to your
door on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Collection from the Centre also
available. Please contact the centre on 066 7133837 for more info.
*Senior Citizens Daycare Social Group: *Our Community Centre also runs a
Senior Citizens Social Group every Wednesday at the Community Centre. We
provide a three course meal, bingo and light activities. This social group
is open to everyone.
*Birthday Parties: *In association with Kerryhead/Ballyheigue FRC birthday
party packages are available at your local Community Centre. Please call
the Centre on 066 7133837.
*Bingo:* Bingo every Thursday night at 8.30pm at the Community Centre.
GLENDAHALAN MASS: The Annual Mass at Tobar na Súl, Glendahalan takes place
at 8.00pm on Thursday 7th June. We hope that all Parishioners will support
this historical and beautiful Holy Place.
POPE FRANCIS’S MASS: Anybody interested in attending the Mass to be
celebrated by Pope Francis in the Phoenix Park, on 26th August please hand
names into the Parish Office. We may organise a bus if enough people are
GLOW WOMEN’S GROUP: are hosting a Coffee Morning 11am to 1pm & Evening 7pm
to 9pm, at An Tóchar Adult Education Centre on Monday 21st May. The
proceeds will go to the Palliative Care Department at Kerry University
Hospital. Please come along and support and bring a friend or two!
ARDFERT RETREAT CENTRE, 066-7134276: Guided Holy Hour & Mass – New feast
of Mary Mother of the Church announced by Pope Francis. Celebrant Fr. Sean
Sheehy, Ardfert Retreat Centre on Monday 21st May from 11am to2.00pm.
BALLYHEIGUE OVER 55s GROUP: Total amount raised for the Alzheimer’s
Society came to €756 for which we thank you.
ST BRENDAN’S AC ATHLETICS: St Brendan’s AC athletes had a good 2 days at
the Kerry juvenile athletics championships at the weekend. Medals were won
in a variety of individual events including walks, sprints, distance
events, high jump and medals were also won in the relays.
The next big event is the primary schools’ sports on Wednesday evening, May
23 in An Fearann (behind the medical centre in Ardfert). Pupils are asked
to be at the venue at 6pm to register the cost is 2 euro per athlete and
the details have already been sent to the schools. See St Brendan’s AC

Training continues at An Fearann at 6.30pm on Wednesdays. Costs is 2 euro
and please bring your own bottle of water. Training for adults is being
held in Banna car park at 7pm on Tuesdays. This includes masters.
CAUSEWAY CAMOGIE NOTES: Camogie training for U-8 & U-10 girls takes place
every Friday from 6pm to 7 pm in the astro turf Causeway. Training for
U-12 & U-13 girls takes place every Monday & Thursday in the sports-field
Causeway. Girls from all parishes are always very welcome to come along
and give it a go. Helmet & hurley will be provided. This is a great way
to get your child active & fit while also making new friends. Cost €2.
GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday’s GAA LOTTO:
16-17-28-30. The Jackpot of €8,400 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will
be €8,450. The two €50 winners were: Teresa Lawlor, Tiershanahan and
Martin Hanlon, Dreenagh. The €25 winner was Mark woods, Ballylongane.
UNDER-16: The Ballyheigue U-16 hurlers defeated Abbeydorney in the Co.
League semi-final on Thursday evening. Full time score Ballyheigue 0-17
and Abbeydorney 0-9. They will play Ballyduff or Kenmare/Kilgarvan in the
Co. League Div.1. Final.
UNDER-12: The U-12 hurlers had a good win over Kilmoyley in the Co. League
on Friday evening. Score Ballyheigue 2-6 and Kilmoyley 2-3.
COUNTY U-14 Hurling League game played at John Joe O’Sullivan Park on
Saturday evening. Ballyheigue 3-8 and Abbeydorney
led 1-5 to 0-5 at halftime.

at John Joe O’Sullivan Park. North Kerry Senior Hurling League final

6pm at Kenmare. Co. Senior Hurling league Ballyheigue v Lixnaw at John Joe
O’Sullivan Park Monday 21st May at 7.30.
KERRY HURLERS: Kerry Senior hurlers are back on track when they defeated
Laoise in the Joe McDonagh Cup at Austin Stack’s Park on Sunday, score
Kerry 3-20, Laoise 0-19. Michael Leane and Philip Lucid were members of
the Kerry panel. Kerry will play Westmeath on Sunday next.
COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 7th May in the
Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club: 3-9-12-27. Jackpot was not won. The
€50 winner was Maurice J. Harmon, C/o Macs. The €25 winners were Rory
O’Carroll, C/o Christina, Mike Quill and Patrick Dineen, C/o Costcutters. Next
week’s Jackpot €9,200.
