GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday’s GAA lotto:
12-23-24-29. The Jackpot of €9,100 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will
be €9,150. The two €50 winners were Bernie Colgan, Buncurrig and Mairead
O’Carroll, Tiduff. The €25 winner was Brendan Guerin, Tiershanahan.

JUNIOR: The Ballyheigue Junior hurlers had a big win over Duagh in the Co.
Championship semi-final on Monday evening.

MINOR: The Ballyheigue/Causeway Minor hurlers received a walk-over from
Kenmare/Kilgarvan in the Co. Championship Q-final. They will play
Ardfert/Kilmoyley in the semi-final.

COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 13th August in
the Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club Lott: 3-8-17-25. Jackpot was not
won. The €50 winner was Maria Slattery, C/o Diarmuid. The €25 winners
were; Darragh Sheehan, C/o John B, Liam O’Mahony, C/o White Sands and Liz
O’Keeffe, C/o John B. Next week’s Jackpot €9,900.

ST BRENDAN’S AC: had a successful day at the All Ireland masters athletics
championships on Saturday last in Tullamore. Five medals were won on the
day. Patrick O’Riordan got gold in the O65 long jump with a leap of 4m and
a silver in the high jump with 1.15m. Ursula Barrett collected a silver
medal in the O40 long jump with a leap of 4.56. David Kissane got bronze in
the O65 400m and bronze in the discus.

In the national league finals in Tullamore two St Brendan’s AC athletes
competed for Kerry senior men’s team who won the division 1 title with
Darragh Courtney coming 3rd in the high jump and Aaron Malik getting 5th in
the pole vault and the 400m hurdles. Lauren O’Grady won her discus event
for the Kerry ladies’ team who came 6th in their category.

Elsewhere, club juveniles Aoibhinn O’Driscoll (Ardfert Kilmoyley Community
Games) and Aaron Horgan (Ballyheigue Community Games) competed admirably in
the national Community Games finals in Limerick where competition was of
the highest order.

Training for adults continues on Tuesdays at 8pm from a variety of venues

BRÚ COLUMBANUS GOLF CLASSIC: A Fund Raising Golf Classic in aid of Brú
Columbanus, Cork, will be held at Ballyheigue Castle Golf Club on Saturday
September 1st. Teams of four cost €140 each and tee times may be booked by
contacting John White on 087 6732856. Tee Boxes and Greens at €50 are also
available to sponsor on the day by contacting any committee member (Jimmy
Bowler, Pat Lucid, Bernard Dineen, John McHale, Emma Bowler, Debbie Dineen
& John White). There are numerous spots prizes to be won on raffle tickets
which may be purchased locally.

Brú Columbanus is an independent charity that provides “Home from Home”
accommodation for relatives of seriously ill patients in any of the Cork
Hospitals or Hospice especially relatives of sick children. Brú Columbanus
is managed by an Independent Board and depends entirely on donations and
fundraising initiatives to cover the running of the house. The home was
established in 2005 and was an initiative of the Knights of St. Columbanus.
Accommodation is provided at no charge to in excess of 500 families who
use the facility each year and it is maintained by a team of volunteers who
give time and expertise freely.

The Golf Classic is in association with McHale’s Stretford End Bar &
Restaurant, Causeway and the prize giving ceremony will take at the venue
on the night at approx 9.30pm. All support for this worthy cause is
greatly appreciated.

PATTERN DAY: As Pattern Day is fast approaching there will be a meeting of
the stewards at Our Lady’s Well and Grotto car park on Tuesday 28th August
at 8.10pm to ensure that all goes well on September 8th. Pattern Day falls
on a Saturday this year so we urgently appeal for new stewards to come
along and help out. The success of t his Historical Day is due to the
dedicated volunteers down through the years.
