BALLYHEIGUE faced Abbeydorney in the semi-final of the “Tom Healy 9-a-side
Hurling Tournament” this evening. The home side found the Ballyheigue net
in the first half following a brilliant save by Captain Daniel O’Loughlin
to leave the halftime score at 1-1 to 0-2. Another Abbeydorney goal at the
beginning of the second gave Ballyheigue an uphill battle. They tried hard
but could not bridge the gap and Abbeydorney won by 3 points, 2-1 to 0-4.
In the Shield Final, Ballyheigue faced Crotta. Our boys held a strong
halftime lead, 2-2 to 0-1. Crotta battled hard in the second half but
Ballyheigue held on to win by 2-8 to 1-3. Daniel accepted the trophy from
Brendan Healy and Joe Walsh and Tomás Gaynor received recognition for his
outstanding performance. Well done to Team and Management.

INTERMEDIATE: The Ballyheigue Intermediate hurlers had a great victory
over Austin Stack’s in the Shield Final at Caherslee on Friday evening.
Score Ballyheigue 4-10 and Austin Stack’s 0-6. It has being a great year
for the Ballyheigue Junior team. Just two weeks ago they won the Co Junior
Championship Final.

RACES: The AGM of Ballyheigue Races will be held on Friday 9th November at
the K L Lounge 9-30pm. This will be the 50th Anniversity of the
Ballyheigue Races, and to mark the occasion the Committee will hold a
two-day meeting on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th December.

ST BRENDAN’S AC: Well done to Ballyheigue athlete Margaret Carlin who
clocked 3 hours-38.38 in the Dublin Marathon on Sunday last, a brilliant
time by the St Brendan’s AC athlete. Also well done to Pádraig O’Regan who
ran 3 hours 39.49, Gerald Carroll 3 hours 46.43, David Butler 3 hours 51.40
and Denis Foley who timed 4 hours 41.16 in his first ever marathon.
Congratulations to all from the area who took part.

Fitness and conditioning for adults continues on Tuesdays at 8pm in Ardfert
Community Centre with Ursula and these sessions are ideal for all levels of
fitness and are great fun as well. Cost is 3 euro.

Training for juveniles is on Wednesdays from next week onwards. Details
