BALLYHEIGUE NOTES – 5.3.2019

COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 25th Feb in the
Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club Lotto: 1-16 24 27. Jackpot was not
won. The €50 winner was John P Leen, C/o Flahive’s. The €25 winners were
Angie McElligott C/o Pat; Christina Rourke, C/o Regan’s and Tom & Brendan,
C/o White Sands.

ST. BRENDAN’S ATHLETIC CLUB MASTERS

Well done to David Butler who ran in the Munster 4 mile Road Championships
in a very wet and cold Dundrum, Co Tipperary last Sunday. The club are
open for membership for adults as the club will be competing in a number of
events over the coming season. These events will include relays and track
and field. Please contact Irene at (087) 7985557 for more detail.

Circuit training continues on Tuesday evenings from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. for
adults. Non members are welcome to attend

JUVENILES: A number of Ballyheigue club members continue to run regularly
at Tralee junior parkrun on Sunday mornings. This event is open to all
children aged 4-14 years.

The Kerry Sportshall Games are being held on Saturday, 23rd March at the
Nano Nagle Community Centre in Milltown at 11 a.m.. Please mention it to
any of your coaches at the training sessions if interested in competing.

Training continues every Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in
Ardfert Community Centre for children aged 7 to 12 while the 12 to 16 years
old train in Ardfert Sportsfield from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.. Both sessions
are open for non members to see what athletics has to offer.

GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday’s GAA Lotto:
7-14-16-18. The Jackpot of €10,500 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will
be €10,550. The two €50 winners were Steve Reidy, Tiershanahan and Mary
Jane Reidy, Tiershanahan. The €25 winner was Bob Lawless, Ballylongane.

MEMBERSHIP: The closing date for Membership of Ballyheigue GAA Club is the
31st March contact any club officer.

KERRY HURLERS: Congratulations to the Kerry Senior Hurlers who had a big
win over Meath in the N.H.L at Fitzgerald Stadium on Sunday. Score Kerry
3-15 and Meath 0-8. They are now through to the League Final.

NEXT WEDNESDAY IS ASH WEDNESDAY: There will be Mass, Blessing and
Distribution of Ashes at

9 15 am. Ashes will be available all day the Church.

FIRST FRIDAY Communion Calls to the elderly will take place on Friday 8th
March beginning at 1.30pm. Please inform relatives and friends.

LENTEN TALK: Fr Peter McVerry, SJ will deliver a Lenten Talk this year
entitled ‘Faith without Justice is Dead’ on behalf of the Naomh Bhréanainn
Pastoral Area on Tuesday 2th March in St. Bernard’s Church, Abbeydorney.
You are all most welcome to attend this very special event. Brochures are
available in the Church giving details of Lenten Talks taking place during
lent in each Pastoral Areas of our Diocese.

ARDFERT RETREAT CENTRE (066-7134276): The Beatitudes: Fr. Sean Sheehy
Wednesday 7.00pm to 8.30pm. Life in the Spirit: Moss & Janice Carrig,
Tuesday -7.30 to 9.00pm.

COMMUNITY GAMES: Well done to recent 4th place winners Kevin Horgan in
handwriting and Ben o Connor in Swimming. Both boys have been very active
already this year participating in other events also. 2 great all round
athletes who we look forward to seeing more success from. Thanks for the
great effort you put in. Also to Molly Casey who took part in the Art, well
done Molly.

BADMINTON: Pride of place this week goes to John Mc Donnell and Kevin
O’Mahony who won the Division-4 Mens Doubles last Friday night in
Killarney. Kevin now has a chance to compete the treble when he plays the
mixed shortly.

And well done to Colm Griffin who won Division-4 Plate and Noel Gilbride
who won the Division-2 Plate in the men’s doubles.

In the Division-5 Doubles two weeks ago Adrian Kenny and Aidan Reidy won
the Men’s Plate and Cathal O’Regan was runner up. Also well done to Cindy
Moriarty and Michelle Corr who won the Ladies Divison-5 Plate Doubles Final.
