ALZHEIMER’S/DEMENTIA: In association with the National Active Retirement
Association the local Over 55s Group will host a Tea Morning from 11am to
1pm on Wednesday 4th May in the Family Resource Centre Ltd., Sraid Thaidhg,
Ballyheigue to raise funds for people suffering from Dementia, and to give
support to their families. All funds will go directly to services which
support those living with dementia in your local area.

DEAR PARENTS: Ballyheigue GAA, in association with Ballyheigue Family
Resource Centre and Ballyheigue Youth Club is organising a comprehensive
talk for parents to highlight the dangers online faced by children and
adults alike. The presentation is aimed at all parents, especially those
not skilled in the use of modern technology. Social media, certain apps and
children’s safety online will be covered. The talk will be given by Garda
Jason O’Mahony who is an expert in this field. Further details are

The VENUE is the White Sands Hotel on Thursday 12th May from 7-9pm. There
will be no charge to attend the talk but booking is essential as places

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION: Next Saturday at 11.00am Mass, our children will
receive their First Holy Communion. They have been preparing very well for
this during the year and many thanks to their teachers –Mrs Susan Crean and
Mr Terence Dineen, and to the parents towards making this a great spiritual
occasion and a day to remember.

BADMINTON – Good results from the Annascaul Tournament – Colum Carroll won
Division-5 and Paula O’Sullivan won Division-4. We held our last club
tournament last Monday night and we were joined by some members of Causeway
Badminton Club. Four teams took part and the winners were: Team ‘A’: Tim
Griffin, Colum Carroll, Siobhan Colbert, Josie Gilbert, Brendan Carroll and
Niall Hanlon. Last Thursday night was our last night of the season and we
retired to Flahive’s Bar for end of year refreshments and a game of Rings
where the winners were team “B”. I think! Badminton will resume again the
first Monday after the Pattern.

COMMUNITY CENTRE: The committee would like to extend an open invitation to
all those who would like to attend our pilot activity on Wednesday from
11.30am to 1.00pm. Those interested in a bit of dancing to music by our
local musician/singers e.g. Eddie Lee to launch this Wednesday 4th May.

COMMUNITY GAMES 2016: Our area athletic day will be held on Monday evening
May 9th at 6.30pm. Entry €2 per child or €5 per family. Any child wishing
to participate must have an address in Ballyheigue. Races will start from
U-8 to U-16. This event will be on in the GAA pitch who we thank for
allowing us to use the field. We will also have a Special Needs race on the
night. Thanks and well done to all the kids that travelled to Mastergeehea
for the Soccer. Unfortunately last Saturday for U-11 hurling in Ballyduff
we were unable to field a team. This was very disappointing for the few
that had turned up and the coaches who had no choice but to pull out of the

GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday’s GAA Lotto:
1-10-17-22. The Jackpot of €3,250 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will
be €3,300. The two €50 winners were: Amy O’Halloran, Bouleenshere and
Teresa O’Mahony, Clahanebawn. The €25 winner was Noel Drury, Marian Park.

UNDER-14s FOOTBALL: The U-14 football team had a big win over Spa in the
Co. League on Wednesday evening. Score Ballyheigue 8.15 and Spa 4-4.

UNDER-16s HURLING: The Ballyheigue U-16s hurlers defeated Tralee Parnell’s
in the Co. League on Thursday evening. Final score Ballyheigue 2-8 and
Parnell’s 0-4. They will now play Kenmare/Kilgarvan in the Co. League

FEILE SEMI-FINAL: The Ballyheigue U-14 Hurlers are through to the Feile
final when they defeated Abbeydorney at Kilmoyley on Saturday. Final score
Ballyheigue 4-7 and Abbeydorney 1-12. We wish the team and mentors the
best of luck in the Feile Final which will be played on Bank Holiday Monday
against Ballyduff.

KERRY HURLERS: Well done to the Kerry Senior hurlers who defeated Carlow
in the Leinster hurling championship at Austin Stack’s Park on Sunday.
Score Kerry 2-19 and Carlow 0-17. Philip Lucid was a member of the Kerry

BENEFIT MATCH: Many thanks to everyone who contributed and attended the
Colm Griffin Benefit Game on Saturday. On behalf of Colm we would like to
thank everyone who came to support the event. We also thank those who have
given so generously on-line and in the fundraising cards. Well done to the
Ballyheigue and IT Tralee hurling teams. Thanks to Referee/Réiteoir Tom
Godley and Seamus Regan-Amplification who provided their services free and
Patrick Flahive for the after-match entertainment. Colm is undergoing
treatment in the National Rehab Hospital, Dun Laoghaire and is on the road
to recovery.
