BALLHEIGUE NOTES – 6th June 2016

COMMUNITY GAMES: This coming weekend our Athletes travel to An Riocht,
Castleisland to participate in the County Games. Good luck to everyone and
thanks to Myra Horgan for training our runners. All information needed will
be given to the children during the week. Last Sunday our U-13 girls’
futsol team of Aoibhe O’ Halloran, Emma Woods, Melanie Dineen Higgins, Eve
Roche Hussey, Kate Kenny, Eilish Gaynor and Niamh Gentleman won Gold medals
for our club. It was a very close final all throughout and went to extra
time with the girls winning 3-2. The girls will now go on to represent
Kerry in the Munsters in UL on July 2nd. We are delighted to have 27
children representing Kerry from Ballyheigue in the Munsters. Such great

BALLYHEIGUE COMMUNITY CENTRE SERVICES: Gym is open six days a week (half
day on Saturday). Community Laundry Room offering washing and ironing from
Monday to Friday. Hall/Rooms for bookings and parties. Wednesdays – Ýoung
at Heart Social Club with singing and dancing 11.30am to 1.00pm. Friday –
Respite Day-care. Monday Wednesday and Friday: “Meals on Wheels” a fresh,
hot, three course meal delivered to the door, €7.

GAA CO. LEAGUE U-14: The Ballyheigue and Abbeydorney Under-14 hurlers lined
out on Friday evening at Abbeydorney in the Co. Div. 1 league final. The
Abbeydorney boys made a great start and were ahead by eleven points at the
break. Half-time score Ballyheigue 1-6 and Abbeydorney 4-8. Ballyheigue
was a different team in the second half with scores coming from Tomas
Gaynor, Nathan Guerin, Colin Walsh, Graham Slattery, Felim O’Sullivan and
the accurate free taking by Nathan. The Ballyheigue goalkeeper, backs and
midfield tightened up and held Abbeydorney to just three points while
Ballyheigue scored 4-6. It was a very exciting game between two good teams
and Ballyheigue held out for a famous victory. It was a complete team
effort. Colin Walsh the Ballyheigue captain was presented with the Co.
League Div. 1 trophy. A lot of work went into the team during the year and
they got their just reward. Many thanks to the mentors – Jer, Jason and

SENIORS: The Senior hurlers were well beaten by Kilmoyley in the North
Kerry Championship on Friday Evening at Kilmoyley.

FIXTURE: Co. Senior hurling league Ballyheigue v Lixnaw at John Joe
O’Sullivan Park Sunday 2.30pm.

GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday’s GAA Lotto:
12-13-22-23. The Jackpot of €3,500 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will
be €3,550. The two €50 winners were Ks O’Halloran, The Village and Seamus
O’Connor, Tralee. The €25 winner was Jer Fitzgibbon, Glenderry.

PUC FADA: The Co. Puc Fada Final took place on Sunday at Kerryhead Mountain.
The Club was represented by Diarmuid Walsh (Senior) and Ricky Hussey

COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 30th May in the
Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club Lotto: 6-15-25-30. Jackpot was not
won. The €50 winner was Elisha Legg, C/o Christina. The €25 winners were:
Pat Perryman, C/o Diarmuid, Paul and Jane Reidy, C/o John B. and Pat
Flahive. Next week’s Jackpot €4,150.
