BALLYHEIGUE NOTES – 14th June 2 016

INTERNATIONAL BICYCLE RIDERS: Ballyheigue will play host to “Wild Atlantic
Way Audax” which are a group of International bicycle riders arriving to
the Community Centre this coming Saturday June 18th from 3.00pm
onwards. Ballyheigue has been successfully selected as the Kerry stopover
on their journey. The riders will be streaming into the centre all evening
and into the night as they complete this part of the Wild Atlantic Way
Journey. This event is a 2,100km cycle. The riders will have a total of 175
hours to complete their journey from Kinsale to Derry. The community centre
is providing a place to rest for the riders until they resume on Sunday
morning. The local community is being urged to help in whatever way
possible to welcome these riders to beautiful Ballyheigue e.g. bake some
buns, cheer them on arrival etc. This is an opportunity to showcase
Ballyheigue in all its glory. The race can also be tracked live. Children’s
Art competition also being run to engage in this event – An International

MEN’S HEALTH WEEK: North & East Kerry Development is hosting an event for
Men’s Health in Ballyheigue Community Centre on Tuesday 14th June starting
at 11.00am with a line-up of talks from different agencies, food,

COMMUNITY CENTRE SERVICES: Gym is open six days a week (half day on
Saturday). Community Laundry Room offering washing and ironing (Monday to
Friday).Hall/Rooms for bookings and parties. Wednesdays ‘Young at Heart
Social Club’ with singing and dancing 11.30am to 1.00pm. Friday – Respite
Day-care. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, ‘Meals on Wheels’ a fresh, hot,
three course meal delivered to the door €7.

HILL WALK ‘CUAN MHUIRE’: On Saturday 25th June 2016 18Km fundraising hill
walk in Ballyheigue. Registration Fee €20 per Adult or Family: €50 (2

The Walk will be from the Community Centre to Kerry Head along the North
Kerry Way and returning to the Community Centre. It is the 50th Anniversary
of Cuan Mhuire Ireland’s largest provider and treatment for those suffering
from addiction and related illness.

BAPTIZED IN 2015: Blessing for Babies – All those who were baptized in our
Parish in 2015 are being invited to a special Mass on Sunday June 19th at
9.30am for God’s blessing. Bring dolls and teddies!!!

CHANGES IN SUMMER SCHEDULE OF MASSES: because of the extra Mass in the
Community Centre, the shortage of Priests, and the impossibility for one
Priest to say 10.45am Mass in Church if there was a funeral followed by
prayers at graveyard and be back for 12 noon Mass – the following changes
are necessary beginning in JULY –

Saturday, 7.30pm Mass in Church; Sunday 10.00am Mass in Church; Sunday
12noon Mass in Community Centre. Apologies for the changes, but no other
solution is possible.

GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday’s Lotto:
4-13-16-22. The Jackpot of €3,550 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will be
€3,600. The two €50 winners were: Laura Dunne, Marian Park, and Paddy

UNDER-13: The Ballyheigue U-13 hurlers defeated Lixnaw in the North Kerry
Championship on Tuesday evening at Lixnaw. Final score Ballyheigue 5-12

Ballyheigue GAA would like to wish Colin Walsh all the best, Colin will be
playing soccer for Kerry in the Kennedy Cup which is taking place this week
in University of Limerick , well done Colin.
