APRECIATION: The participation by students from both parish schools in the
recent Roger Casement Commemoration was deeply appreciated by everyone. The
organising committee wishes to thank the students for their perfect
performance, the principals Mr. Terence Dineen and Mr. Gerard Pierce for
their co-operation, the teachers Ms. Mary O’Connor and Mr. Pat Clifford and
the musical guides Ms Ann O’Mahony and Ms. Ashleigh Fitzgerald. Míle

CYCLE AGAINST SUICIDE SPIN OFF: Ballyheigue will welcome over 400 cyclists
next Saturday, 20th August at 5.00 p.m. for the CAS Spin Off. The community
along with visitors are asked to wear an orange top and welcome the
cyclists as they come into the village. Please meet at Ballyheigue
Community Centre at 4:15 p.m. Children are very welcome but must be
accompanied by an adult. On the day there will be a Positive Mental Health
and Well Being Event which will be open to all. Food donations are welcome
on the day and may be dropped to the Community Centre on Saturday morning
between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Please contact Co-ordinator Marian
O’Halloran at 086-1566397 should you wish to provide refreshments. This is
a very high profile event for the village and all help will be greatly

BALLYHEIGUE COMMUNITY GAMES: After a fantastic weekend at The National
Finals in Athlone last weekend we were absolutely thrilled to finish off
our 2016 year with 12 Silver medals and 1 Bronze. A brilliant achievement
by all. Congratulations to our U-12 Draughts team of Dara Kearney, Dara
Donnelly, Denis Lynch, David O’Grady, Daragh O’Fuaráin and Charlie
Fitzgerald along with our U-13 Futsol team, Daniel O’Loughlin, Eric Walsh,
David O’Sullivan, Muiris Harty, Felim O’Sullivan and Oisin O’Regan who came
in 2nd place. Shauna Casey did a beautiful piece in her Model Making
competition to achieve a 3rd place and bring home the Bronze medal. Thanks
ever so much to Jack Duggan who coached the Futsol team, Jack was excellent
with the children. Not to forget our other coach Mark O’Sullivan who put
lots of time and effort into training the lads. Well done to Ann Kearney
who took over management of the draughts team and did a mighty job. Thanks
to all the parents who travelled and for all the support coming from family
and friends. We look forward to next year in Community Games.

VARIETY CONCERT: A Special Concert will be held in the Community Centre at
8.00pm on Wednesday 17th August, under the auspices of the History &
Heritage Group, to help fund the forthcoming parish Missionary Book. This
research book will be launched on 19th November 2016. Your support for
this Variety Concert is deeply appreciated. Thank you.

HISTORICAL TOUR: A historical tour of Brosna led by Tom Roche N.T.,
Historian, will take place on Sunday 21st August. Meet at Brosna Parish
Church at 2.30pm. All are welcome. Organised by Kerry Archaeological &
Historical Society.

GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday’s GAA Lotto:
13-21-28-30. The Jackpot of €3,950 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will
be €4,000. The two €50 winners were: Margaret O’Sullivan, Bouleenshere and
Thomas Cantillon, Glendahalan. The €25 winner was Hugh Collins, Dreenagh.

KERRY MINORS: The Kerry minor hurlers defeated Down in the All Ireland ‘B’
Championship semi-final at Newbridge on Saturday last. Full time score
Kerry 2-19 and Down 1-15. The Ballyheigue club was represented on the team
by Conor Galway who lined out at midfield. John Healy is a selector.

COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 8th August in
the Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club Lotto: 2-3-17-27. Jackpot was not
won. The €50 winner was John Harty, C/o Christina. The €25 winners was:
Edel O’Leary, C/o Christina; Marian Harty, C/o Christina; and Damien
Nealon, C/o Christina. Next week’s Jackpot €4,650.

DEATH: The death occurred of Mary Williams (née Flahive), Ballyheigue.
Reposing at Hartnett’s Funeral Home on Wednesday 10th August followed by
removal to St. Mary’s Church, Ballyheigue. Requiem Mass was on Thursday 11
th August 2016, burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ballyheigue. May
she rest in peace. Sadly missed by her loving family, daughters Mary and
Betty; sons Tom, Eamon and Paddy; son-in-law, daughters-in-law,
grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends

DEATH: The death occurred of Michael B Corridan, Keel, Ballyheigue.
Reposing at his home in Keel on Wednesday 10th August 2016. Requiem Mass
on Thursday 11th August and burial afterwards in Keel Cemetery. May he
rest in peace. Sadly missed by his loving family, devoted wife Joan,
daughter Marie, sons P. J., Michael and Maurice; daughters-in-law,
son-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters,
sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends..
