FEILE: The U-14 Hurlers defeated a gallant Ballyduff team in the ‘B’ Feile
Final at Causeway on Monday evening and are now heading to the Dunamaggin
Club in Kilkenny at the week-end of June 16th for the All-Ireland.
FEILE FINALS: This will be a fantastic opportunity for our team which they
will cherish and remember for ever. The game was keenly contested.
Ballyheigue held a one point lead at the break. Half-Time score Ballyheigue
1-5 Ballyduff and 1-4. Ballyheigue scorers in the opening half were
Tomas Gaynor, Felim O’ Sullivan, and David O’ Mahony. The second half was
only seconds old when Ballyduff was awarded a free which was sent over the
bar to leave the sides level. Ballyheigue had most of the play in the
second-half and went ahead with a Tomas Gaynor point from a free. But it
took a brilliant goal by Denis Lynch to put the game out of reach of a very
good Ballyduff team. This was a complete team display and apart from those
already mentioned. Ballyheigue had good players in Goalkeeper Daniel O’
Loughlin who made some great saves, Seami O’Fuarain (captain), Jordan
Goggin and Charlie Fitzgerald. The trophy was presented by Gerard Hussay
Coiste Na Nog to a delighted Seami O’Fuarain the Ballyheigue captain.
Many thanks to the supporters who cheered on the team. Thanks also to
Jimmy Browne of White-Sands Hotel who provided refreshments for the team,
mentors and supporters, final score – Ballyheigue 2-6 and Ballyduff 1-5.
