DECEASED OF PAST YEAR: On Friday next, 17th November at 7.30pm Mass, we
will prayerfully remember all those who have died during the past year.
Relatives are asked to collect a candle from members of the Liturgy Group
at the front door on their way in. At the start of Mass the Priest will
ask them to bring the candle to the altar where it will be lit in
remembrance of their loved one.
FUNDRAISING VARIETY CONCERT; In aid of Ballyheigue Community Centre, ‘The
Golden Lion Show Case Night of Entertainment’, directed by our very own Pat
Sheehan, will take place on Saturday 25th November at 8.30pm (doors open at
7:15pm) at Ballyheigue Community Centre.
CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAYRE: Sunday 19th November 11am – 5pm. Come and browse the
exciting range of Arts & Crafts tables. If you would like to book a
pitch/table please call Ballyheigue Community Centre on 066 7133837 or drop
into the Centre. A pitch costs €25.
KERRY HOSPICE FOUNDATION: Many thanks to Michael & Noreen Gleeson & Family
for their hospitality on the Coffee Day which raised €720. The total
amount raised this year was €3,158.81 and thanks to your continuing support
and generosity the new fifteen-bed-Unit is now officially open at U.H.K.,
CHRISTMAS SENIOR CITIZENS PARTY: The annual Christmas Party for senior
citizens will be held on Sunday 17th December in the White Sands Hotel.
CHILDREN’S CHOIR FOR CHRISTMAS EVE: Rehearsals for Children’s Choir for
Christmas Eve are held on Fridays from 7.00 to 8.00pm at Geraldine
O’Connor’s house behind the Grotto. If interested please contact Geraldine
DEATH: The death occurred of Eileen Holly, (née Dineen), Barna,
Ballybunion and formerly of Castleshannon. Sadly missed by her loving
husband Patrick, children Linda, Joseph and Denise, grandchildren Clodagh,
Tadhg and Josh, Sisters Mary, Noreen, Margaret and Ann. Brothers Paudie and
Michael, Mother-in-law, Sisters-in-law, Brothers-in-law, Nieces, Nephews,
relatives and friends. Reposing at her home on Monday 6th November.
Requiem Mass on Tuesday 7th November in St. John’s Church, Ballybunion
followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery St. John’s.
THE DEATH occurred of Bridget (Bridie) Blackettt (née Cantillon) Dirtane,
Ballyheigue and Sallowfield, Manchester. Deeply regretted by her son
Billy, daughter-in-law Peg, grandchildren Lucy and Billy and Lucy’s husband
Mark, great-grand children Robbie, Katie and J.P. and Alex. Reposing on
Tuesday at her son’s Billy’s home followed by removal to St. Mary’s Church,
Ballyheigue. Requiem Mass on Wednesday followed by private cremation.
THE DEATH occurred of Kathleen (Kitty) Gleeson, Glenlea. Predeceased by
her sisters Lil and Helen. Deeply regretted by her brother Michael and
sister Annie (England), sister-in-law Noreen, her nephews and nieces,
grand-nephews and grand-nieces, relatives and friends. Reposing on
Thursday in Casey’s Funeral Home, Causeway followed by removal to St.
Mary’s Church, Ballyheigue. Requiem Mass on Friday followed by burial in
St. James Cemetery, Ballyheigue.
COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 6th November in
the Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club Lotto: 10-19-28-30. Jackpot was
not won. The €50 winner
was: Jim, C/o John B., The €25 winners were Paul & Jane Reidy, C/o John B.,
Patrick Casey, C/o Sean and Fergal Reidy, C/o Diarmuid. Next week’s
GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday’s GAA lotto:
2-3-4-25. The Jackpot of €7,150 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will be
€7,200. The two €50 winners were: Ger Fitzgibbon, Glenderry and Geraldine
Harty, Ballylongane. The €25 winner was Shane Lawless, Ballylongane.
TOM HEALY HURLING TOURNAMENT: The Ballyheigue Under-15 hurlers are the Tom
Healy Tournament Champions, They had a great victory over Ballyduff in the
semi-final at Abbeydorney on Friday evening In the final they played the
local Abbeydorney team. Both teams played great skilful hurling with very
little between the sides all through the game. The Abbeydorney boys were
two points ahead with time almost up. Then Nathan Guerin who ran through
the Abbeydorney defence to stick the ball in the net for a great match
winning score. The Ballyheigue team held out for a famous victory with all
the players playing their part. Final score Ballyheigue 1-8 and
Abbeydorney 1-7. The Trophy was presented to a delighted Nathan Guerin the
Ballyheigue Captain. Graham Slattery was voted Man of the Match. Many
thanks to the Co-ordinator Mikey Leahy and the Abbeydorney club who ran a
very successful and enjoyable Tournament. The Ballyheigue panel: Daniel

KERRY CAMOGIE FUNDRAISER: We are appealing to the public to please support
our upcoming fundraiser. We will be going door to door selling Kerry
Camogie Christmas Draw tickets, 1 for a €5, 3 for €10 & 7 for €20 for some
1st prize €750, 2nd prize €350, 3rd prize hamper value €200, 4th prize
hamper value €120 & 5th prize hamper value €80.
2017 was an excellent year for Kerry Camogie with success at U14, U15 &
Minor with All Ireland Titles. Our senior team won the Munster Junior
Championship and reached the semi-final of the Liberty Insurance League &
Championship and will be aiming to go one better in 2018. There is a lot of
expense associated with this number of teams representing Kerry proudly in
Camogie and we hope that funds raised in this draw will help offset some of
the costs in 2018. We appreciate your continued support of Kerry Camogie
both on and off the field.
CAMOGIE NEWS: We will be holding our AGM on Tuesday the 21st of November at
8.30pm in the club room Causeway. We are a growing club with a large number
of young players and it would be great if some of the parents of these
children would get involved in the running of the club. These girls are the
future of the club and they need their parents to step up and get involved
to ensure the continued success of the club. All are invited to attend.
